... the process of making a book from scratch. I love the varied, organised steps of making a handmade book, as well as the fluidity it provides which can be harvested with each structure or left aside. The gathering of the materials, the folding of the papers, the sewing of the signatures, the creation of the book covers are a lovely way to relax and build a book with its very own identity.
I have attended many workshops and one-to-one tutorials with amazing bookbinders. I am a member of the Society of Bookbinders (SoB) as well as Designer Bookbinders (DB). I was lucky to receive a bursary to attend the SoB 2022 Bath conference and have lead an SoB workshop. I am offering workshops inside my well-equipped bindery in Gloucester as well as selling my own handmade books on Etsy and other outlets.
I am very enthusiastic about creating my own book covers. I have dipped my toes in Lino cutting, collagraph, cyanotype, gold leaf, Gelli printing and also created my own process, Ecolite - a simplified interpretation of Ecoprinting.
